Mixed emotions

Slate recently had a competition to see which of its readers could come up with the best action-movie style one-liner, something in the mold of "Do you feel lucky, punk?" and "Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker." The winner was "Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, pissant." I know for a fact I have said those words (back me up here Nick), and I am left feeling both unhappy with my lack of originality and pleased that someone else in the world is operating on my wavelength. I'm not special, but I'm also not alone. Life is confusing.

I'll be your witness. I believe that this happened in 1998 when Andrew was working at Ukrops and the bag boys had a contest to see who could come up with the most creative farewell to the customers whose bags they were obligated to carry out to the parking lot. If I remember correctly, Andrew said, "Goodnight, sweet prince, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest" to an elderly man who was kind of freaked out. Andrew, don't despair--the Slate article implied that the phrase was ridiculous and thereby hilarious, which I think is what you were going for all those years ago. I thought it was funny then and I still do.

IS that from that movie? Or is it original?

And why do you never call/email me, huh?
